I would take it step further and say that the competition that arises from the remixes of your own works is incentive to make things even better. If your competition does not get better relative to your own products, eventually you will plateau and not create anything new and groundbreaking. At the same time, if you are not learning from and applying old and current technologies, you will most likely not progress any further than you already have.
